About
Shopify is a Canadian Content Management System (CMS) specifically designed for E-Commerce websites. Founded in 2006 by Tobias Lütke and Scott Lake, Shopify was launched as an online store for snowboarding equipment by the founders, who were frustated with the existing E-Commerce platforms at the time.
As of 2024, Shopify hosts 5.6 million active stores across more than 175 countries. They offer multiple plans from a basic package, designed for smaller entrepreneurs, to Shopify Plus, an advanced package for high-volume merchants.
